SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE
We represented a female in a sexual harassment case against a large national air conditioning manufacturer that has a plant in Tyler, Texas. Our client’s immediate supervisor, a male, continually made sexual remarks and was sexually aggressive towards the client over a 2-3 year period of time. The client was demoted and her wages were lowered because she denied her supervisor’s sexual advances. The supervisor also placed a crude, sexual drawing in her work area. Numerous co-employees saw the drawing, which further demeaned the client. Ultimately, after our client rejected a pre-suit settlement offer of $1,000.00 by her employer, a jury awarded our client a substantial sum. The case was resolved for a confidential settlement after the jury trial and while the employer’s appeal was pending.
GENDER DISCRIMINATION
We represented a female in an employment discrimination case against a publicly traded company. Our client alleged that she was denied promotions based upon her gender. After developing evidence that many less qualified males had been promoted to positions above her based upon a “good old boy” system, we negotiated a confidential settlement to resolve this matter.
